Small Businesses or any business for that matter can Increase Sales with Twitter. Businesses are now starting to understand how to increase sales with twitter by using them for customer service and announcing deals. Customers are joining twitter by the day and there doesn't seem to be a slow down any time soon. If you're not up to speed, in a nutshell Twitter is:

• A micro-blogging platform
• Web-based application that allows you to write about ANYTHING
• Any message under 140 characters
• Similar to the real world example of a water cooler chat

Customer service is definitely one of the key areas that can increase sales with Twitter. Twitter allows you the capability to keep in touch with your customers helping them where they need it.

Here's a scenario where your business can excel in customer service using twitter.

1. A Customer asks a question directed to your business regarding your product or service.
   
2. You answer your customer about the product.
3. Your army of followers/customers will see the reply.
4. Your customers really feel that your company is listening to them and build trust in your company and brand.
   

This type of service definitely takes your customer relationship to the next level without a significant investment on your part.  Your customer will buy your product over and over again without you having to sell them every time.

One of the best ways to directly increase sales with twitter is to actually announce and give out information to deals and sale items.

The most recent example I can think of is Six Flags Theme Parks doing this with ticket sales. They broadcasted a link for $10 tickets that would expire at the end of the month.

When I got the link I was so excited I had to REtweet the info so that my followers would pick up on it as well.

Dell has also done something similar.

Now imagine if you had a deal let's say buy 1 get 1 free or something. You can easily use Twitter to test these promotions, or even sell off items quickly and see an increase in sales with twitter.

Twitter would be the tool to consider in helping you towards the quarter end sales goals.

Twitter can boost the speed of getting information to your customer, so you don't have to wait for that sluggish marketing email to be sent out.

This tool is definitely a boon for businesses who just need to get out short announcements. I mean... do you really want to wait a few days for a press release or email?

YOUR competitors may beat you to it. So instead of lost sales, be the leader in your market and beat them to the punch.

As a beginning exercise, try announcing a small promotion using twitter and see how it ripples online, you'll be surprised at the response you get.
